Bridge Engineering
Scott Wilson provides Bridge Engineering Services for external
clients and also for major transport projects delivered by the
wider Scott Wilson group. A ‘one-stop-shop’ design service is
provided for road, rail and river crossings for all our projects
worldwide.
Our Bridge Engineering team provides study and design services with
all stages of the project cycle being covered, from conceptual
design and feasibility to design of renewal or upgrade of bridge
structures.
Roads projects are often procured by Employer’s Design or more
recently through Design & Build methods. Our bridge design
teams develop the design from conceptual engineering through to
detailed design and the preparation of construction drawings. Close
collaboration with the contractor and other parties is a key
element of the success experienced on many projects.
Bridge design for railway projects has complexities associated
with control of dynamic effects, appraisal of track/structure
interaction loading, provision of services and stray current
corrosion etc. Our Bridges team understand the complex interfacing
problems associated with the multidisciplinary requirement for
major railways projects.
Bridge design and maintenance services are also provided for
smaller scale projects to Local Authorities and private clients.
All of the design teams are equipped with the latest interactive
computer analysis and design software to ensure the highest levels
of efficiency and accuracy.
