Historical and Conservation
Realising the potential of development sites, whilst conserving
our built heritage, often creates conflicts of interest between
developers and conservationists.
Our engineers and archaeologists also provide conservation-based
designs and specifications for the repair and adaptive re-use of
old structures and standing archaeology.
The acquisition of Cameron Taylor's national conservation team
has significantly strengthened Scott Wilson's ability to provide a
comprehensive service from the pre-planning application stage of a
project, through to practical completion of construction, with all
the necessary skills in conservation planning, archaeology, civil,
structural and building services engineering.
Future plans include developing our support for international
conservation projects, and expanding the links between conservation
and sustainable construction.
Scott Wilson can add value to developments by:
- Unlocking otherwise un-developable sites
- Identifying and conserving "lost" historic buildings and sites
which then add to peoples sense of place and history
- Keeping old buildings alive with the minimum of intervention
and capital cost
- Smoothing the statutory approvals process through our
comprehensive knowledge of Heritage, the National Amenity
Societies, and our involvement with the ICE/IStructE, RICS and RIBA
conservation accreditation panels.
