Mixed Use Developments
The last few years have seen an increasing number of large
mixed-use schemes being developed, combining residential with
commercial or retail uses, often in city centre locations. The lack
of land available for building and the Government's encouragement
of the development of brownfield sites have encouraged such schemes
and they are becoming an increasing feature of urban areas.
Combining different uses that have opposing spatial requirements
and differing energy and servicing needs can produce complex
uneconomic developments if they are not thoroughly considered early
on in the development process. As an example, with early
involvement, we can assist the architect with optimum floor layouts
to take account of the structural and services needs of the various
uses within the development without compromising its aesthetic
integrity.
We have successfully delivered a number of large
multimillion-pound mixed-use schemes, as we are able to
successfully draw together a wide range of highly skilled and
complimentary services that are necessary for each stage of the
development process. These can be provided in a coordinated
'one stop shop' approach or individually, depending on our client's
needs and preferences. Although a competitive market, we intend to
raise our profile, market share and reputation by providing best
practice and the most up-to-date advice whether it is in
environmental and renewable energy legislation, transport related
matters or building design. The acquisition of Cameron Taylor,
combining expertise and resources, adding strength and depth to the
professional services provided, further enhanced the strong
reputation and market presence already held in the residential
sub-sector.
New services are being developed to meet the needs of Government
initiatives with respect to carbon management and sustainability,
such as EcoHomes and BREEAM appraisals, as well as advice on
sustainable homes legislation.
