Project Background
The State of Qatar is experiencing a massive economic and
industrial growth. This rapid growth is characterised by a rapid
population increase and by the urgent need towards the development
of both infrastructure projects and major transport projects. In
order to handle this rate of development within Qatar, the Urban
Planning and Development Authority (UPDA) in coordination with
other authorities and institutions in Qatar, recognised the need to
develop a comprehensive Transport Master Plan for Qatar (TMPQ).
Project Scope
Appointed in late 2006 for a 12months study, SW are responsible
for recommending a revised road hierarchy, development of parking
policies and strategies and development of the national truck route
network. Transport Planning work has been fully integrated with the
strategic aims of other disciplines such as Land Use Planning for
2016 and 2026 horizon years. Draft masterplan is anticipated in
November 2007.
What we achieved / How we added value
